Ocean is a collaboration between SpectorDance and Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute.  It blends sound bites from filmed interviews with renowned scientists, original music, high definition underwater footage, and contemporary dance to investigate the state of our world ocean, foster constructive dialogue and inspire responsible stewardship.t  Ocean explores such themes as ocean chemistry, extinction of species, the food web, and changing storm patterns. Ocean was presented at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. and at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, Ca. This piece was created and performed from 2010-2013.

Testimonials
"Ocean is simply spellbinding and reaches a totally different audience with a very compelling message about our ocean planet."
Paul Keener Chavez - Director of Education Programs/Marine Biologist, Office of Ocean Exploration and Research, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

"I REALLY think the arts can help teach the public about science/environmental issues in our world. The ocean performance is perfect to present at all the aquariums around the world as well as other public and private informal education venues such as museums and science centers. I actually saw the Ocean and Dance performance at the Smithsonian a couple of weeks ago. Spectacular! This is a true example of integrating the sciences with the arts and it was also funded by Nationa Science Foundation. What a great way to get important scientific information to the public (including teachers and students) by using this type of medium. I love it!"
Carmelina Livingston - Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow
