Guest Artists 2017
Charles D. Torres began his ballet training under Judy Churma and Florence Davich. Charles received full scholarships to San Francisco Ballet School, Cleveland Ballet School, Royal Danish Ballet School Workshops, School of American Ballet, Arizona State University, and has earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from St. Mary’s College. Charles has danced as a principal with Ballet West Arizona, Ballet Austin, The Carlisle Project, Chautauqua Ballet under the direction of Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, and with the Sacramento Ballet (as Principal Dancer and Ballet Master). He has been a principal guest artist with several bay area companies; Smuin Ballet, Peninsula Ballet Theatre, Diablo Ballet, and with Company C under Charles Anderson. Charles began his teaching career in 1989. He is currently ballet master at Stapleton School of Performing Arts and was also at The Ballet Studio under Henry Berg in San Francisco. He is also a guest teacher at San Francisco Dance Center (Home of Lines Contemporary Ballet) and the Santa Clara Ballet School under Joesfa Reyes. He has also guest taught for Joe Lanteri’s, New York City Dance Alliance Tour in which he was highly acclaimed for his coaching to the aspiring young artists. He spent six years as a faculty member and as rehearsal assistant at the Ballet San Jose/Silicon Valley School (formerly San Jose/Cleveland Ballet). Charles has guest taught or resided at the Sacramento Ballet, Western Ballet School, Zohar School of Dance, San Jose Dance Theatre, Brady Street Dance Center, San Francisco Dance Center (home of Lines Contemporary Ballet), Jeannie Wright School of Dance, Brava Dance Eureka School (frequent guest teacher and coach), Westlake School of Performing Arts (guest artist and teacher), The Vacaville Ballet School, Marin Ballet, Rocky Mountain Ballet Theatre, Santa Clara Ballet School, South Bay Dance Center, Loyola Marymount University, Stanford University, Glendale Community College [seasonal guest teacher, lecturer, and choreographer] and Westside Ballet under Yvonne Mounsey.
Raymond Tilton (Dancer) was born in San Marcos and trained at San Elijo Dance Academy and San Francisco Ballet School prior to being named an apprentice in 2010 with the San Francisco Ballet and joining the Company in 2011. Since joining Diablo Ballet in 2015, Raymond has performed in works by Sean Kelly, Robert Dekkers, Norbert Vesak, Gary Masters, Sonya Delwaidea and George Balanchine. Currently, Raymond dances with Diablo Ballet.
